Best Bath Towels That Last: Frontgate Resort Towels

It’s true… we all want that spa-like luxury at home, but after years of cycling through disappointing bath towels that fray, snag, or lose their fluff after a few washes, I realized that a higher price tag doesn’t always equal higher quality!

I spent years overspending on “premium” brands only to be left with scratchy, fraying, and overall, disappointing towels.

In this post, I’m going to share with you everything I’ve learned on my towel journey so that you can find the best bath towels for your home.

What Makes the Best Bath Towels?

Paying more for bath towels does not necessarily mean you’ll get better quality. At least that wasn’t the case for me. Here are some factors to look for in a high-quality bath towel

  • Material: Look for 100% Long-Staple Turkish Cotton or Egyptian Cotton
  • GSM:  Grams per Square Meter should be at least 500 to 900 GSM
  • Weaving: Look for towels that specify their weaving process – Herringbone, Combed Cotton, Twillweave, Zero-Twist weaving or Double-loop Terry are some known techniques that make up quality bath towels
  • Yarn Ply: Look for 2-Ply yarn, not 1-Ply yarn (this is rarely in the product details, but if you contact the manufacturer they will know)
  • Size Matters: If you love extra coverage, look for “Bath Sheets” (usually 40″ x 72″) rather than standard bath towels.

When searching for the best bath towels that will last, understanding material quality and construction details is essential. These factors determine not only how your towel feels against your skin but also how well it will hold up over time.

The Frontgate Resort Collection

After five years of trial and error, I finally invested in the Frontgate Resort Collection Towels. They have been a staple in our home for over two years now, and honestly, they exceeded my expectations.

What I love most is that they’re a fraction of the price of the luxury and premium brands I paid for years ago that didn’t last.

The Comparison: High-End vs. High-Quality

I previously spent $70+ per towel at Restoration Hardware, expecting them to be the “gold standard.” However, within months, they were snagging and felt stiff.

By comparison, the Frontgate towels (priced around $40-$50) have maintained their “fluff” and softness and haven’t snagged or frayed. It’s proof that you don’t have to spend the most to get the best.
